The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite and social media influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, in connection with an alleged international cocaine trafficking network following the seizure of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine in Lagos.
The NDLEA said the cocaine, intercepted at a courier logistics company, was worth approximately ₦39 billion, making the seizure one of the largest single cocaine consignments recovered from a courier facility in the agency’s history.
The development was announced by NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), who said the operation exposed an alleged international network using Nigeria as a transit point for cocaine shipments destined for the United Kingdom, other European countries and Asia.
According to the agency, the investigation began after its operatives intercepted the large cocaine consignment at the logistics company. The drugs were allegedly concealed inside brown boxes being processed for onward shipment.
Investigators subsequently arrested Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a staff member of the courier company, whom the NDLEA accused of assisting the suspected syndicate by packaging and processing consignments.
The agency alleged that Kehinde was paid in cash for his role in handling the shipments.
As investigators expanded the probe, intelligence reportedly led them to KC Luxury, whom the NDLEA described as the alleged Nigerian “arrowhead” of the wider cartel.
The agency said KC Luxury was arrested on August 13, 2026, at the boarding gate of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after operatives received information that he was preparing to leave the country.
According to the NDLEA, the influencer was attempting to board a business-class flight to Paris when officers moved in to arrest him.
During the arrest, operatives reportedly recovered ₦100,000, €7,750 and £2,800, as well as expensive jewellery from the suspect.
The agency subsequently searched his luxury residence in Banana Island, Ikoyi, where it said several exotic vehicles were recovered.
KC Luxury is widely known on social media for showcasing an extravagant lifestyle and luxury possessions. His online profile has reportedly centred on high-value goods, including jewellery, gold, real estate and luxury automobiles.
The NDLEA alleged that this public image formed part of a cover used to conceal his alleged involvement in the international drug network.
“The second and more prominent suspect is Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known online as KC Luxury, whom investigations identified as the Nigerian arrowhead of the cartel,” Marwa said, according to reports of the briefing.
The investigation has also taken on an international dimension. The NDLEA said some alleged members of the same syndicate have been arrested by authorities in the United Kingdom.
The agency said the suspected operation involved moving cocaine from South America through Nigeria before onward distribution to destinations in Europe and Asia.
The arrest has generated intense reactions across social media, with previously circulated videos and photographs of KC Luxury’s lavish lifestyle resurfacing following news of the investigation.
Some online users have pointed to luxury vehicles reportedly associated with the influencer, including a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Brabus G-Wagon and Rolls-Royce, as they debate the source of the wealth displayed on his social media platforms.
However, the existence of luxury assets does not by itself establish that they were purchased with proceeds from illegal activity. Any allegations concerning the ownership, financing or origin of those assets will have to be established through the ongoing investigation and, if applicable, court proceedings.
The case has also renewed concerns about the use of legitimate courier and logistics businesses by international criminal networks to move illegal consignments.
Marwa warned that the agency would continue targeting suspected drug traffickers regardless of their wealth, social status, connections or public profile.
The latest seizure also underscores the scale of the international drug trade and the challenges facing Nigerian authorities as they attempt to prevent the country from being exploited as a transit route for illicit drugs.
Both KC Luxury and Lawal Mujab Kehinde remain in NDLEA custody as investigations continue.
