Alex Otti Approves ₦25 Million Lifeline for Ailing Nollywood Star Ngozi Nwosu After Emotional Appeal

Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has received a major boost in her battle against illness after Abia State Governor Alex Otti approved the payment of ₦25 million towards her medical treatment, following her emotional appeal for financial assistance.

The intervention comes just days after the acclaimed actress revealed that she urgently needed ₦30 million to undergo three critical surgeries, saying the rising cost of treatment had become too overwhelming for her to bear.

The Abia State Government confirmed that the funds were paid directly into the account of the hospital where Nwosu is currently receiving treatment, describing the intervention as the first phase of the government’s support for the actress.

Governor Otti reportedly authorised the payment on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, fulfilling a promise made after learning of the veteran actress’s health condition.

The development was announced by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as J Martins, who praised the governor for responding swiftly to the actress’s plight.

“Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency, our pragmatic leader, made good his promise by directing a ₦25 million payment to the hospital’s account where our legendary Nollywood actress, Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu, is receiving treatment,” Martins said.

He described the governor’s gesture as a demonstration of compassion and commitment to supporting distinguished sons and daughters of Abia State who have contributed significantly to Nigeria’s creative industry.

Ngozi Nwosu, one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, has reportedly been hospitalised for about three weeks while receiving treatment for an undisclosed medical condition.

Her public appeal for help last week touched many Nigerians after she disclosed that she required urgent surgeries and could no longer cope with the enormous medical expenses.
