Chaos at Delta APC Stakeholders’ Meeting? Conflicting Reports Emerge as Party Denies Violence, Governor Oborevwori’s Aide Allegedly Attacked

Conflicting accounts have emerged following a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District, with reports alleging that the gathering turned violent and left Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s protocol aide injured.

The meeting, held on Sunday at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre in Effurun, Delta State, brought together APC leaders and stakeholders from across the Delta Central Senatorial District to discuss party affairs and political strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, the event has since become the subject of controversy after several media reports and social media posts claimed it descended into chaos.

According to reports by The Guardian and Daily Post, a disagreement among participants allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in a free-for-all fight inside and around the venue. Witnesses reportedly said chairs and other objects were thrown as rival groups clashed, forcing attendees to flee while several people sustained injuries. Some reports also claimed that property at the venue was damaged during the disturbance.

Videos circulating on social media showed scenes of disorder outside parts of the PTI premises, further fueling speculation that the meeting ended in violence.

Among those reportedly affected was Mr. Temple Mudi, popularly known as Tempo Mudi, the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Posts circulating online, alongside reports published by some media outlets, including Sahara Reporters, alleged that Mudi was stabbed or seriously assaulted during the incident and was seen attempting to escape from individuals pursuing him.

As of the time of filing this report, however, there has been no official confirmation from the police or any medical facility verifying claims that the governor’s aide sustained stab wounds or other serious injuries.

In response to the reports, the Delta State chapter of the APC dismissed the allegations, describing them as false and misleading.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the party said reports suggesting the stakeholders’ gathering was disrupted by violence were “reckless, false, malicious and sensational.”

According to the APC, the meeting was peaceful, well attended, and concluded successfully without any disruption.

The party also noted that the event was broadcast live by Arise Television and TVC News, arguing that the live coverage reflected the orderly conduct of the proceedings.

The APC further claimed that video clips being circulated online as evidence of violence were recorded elsewhere within the PTI premises and not inside the conference hall where the stakeholders’ meeting was held.

The party called on The Guardian to retract its report and apologise, while urging members of the public to disregard what it described as misinformation intended to create the impression of a divided party.

Party leaders maintained that the Delta APC remains united and focused on strengthening its grassroots structures, collaborating with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Despite the party’s denial, discussions surrounding the incident continue across social media platforms, where videos and eyewitness accounts have generated widespread reactions.

At the time of publication, no official police statement confirming a stabbing, casualty figures, or arrests connected to the alleged incident had been released. Likewise, no hospital has publicly confirmed treating the governor’s protocol aide for injuries linked to the meeting.

With conflicting narratives continuing to circulate, it remains unclear exactly what transpired at the venue. Authorities have yet to provide an independent account of the events, and further clarification is expected as more information becomes available.
